100 People Who Care of Concord - July Meeting Recap
Thanks to everyone who attended last Thursday’s 100 People Who Care Concord meeting.
We celebrated five years and the nearly $93,000 we’ve shared with Cabarrus County nonprofits.
We heard remarks from Mike Holt of Aurora Special Needs Winter Guard about how our $4310 donation was used to purchase a brand-new 50-foot x 90-foot performance floor. Coupled with a $750 contribution from another donor, they also purchased 30 flags for the next season. Both the new floor and the flags are paid in full, and Aurora’s performers will be on a level playing field with all of the others in the winter guard world.
Congratulations to this cycle’s selected nonprofit, Kennedy Strong, whose mission is to create programs and services that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, promote advocacy and inclusion, and empower people of all abilities to reach their full potential. Our donation of $4410 will be matched by a generous benefactor of the organization.
It’s not too early to nominate a nonprofit for the fall cycle. Requirements are that all nominated organizations must be a 501 (c) (3), and our donation must be used in Cabarrus County.
Our next meeting will be Thursday, October 22 at 7 pm at Central United Methodist Church.
Blessings,
Jack & Elaine
100 People Who Care – April 30 Meeting Recap
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Thursday evening in the Coltrane Room at Central United Methodist Church. It was a meaningful gathering, and we are grateful for your continued commitment to supporting nonprofits across Cabarrus County.
We also appreciated hearing from Sandra with El Puente Hispano, who shared how our Q1 2026 donation is making a tangible difference for Hispanic families in our community.
At this meeting, we heard presentations from three outstanding local nonprofits:
Aurora Special Needs Winter Guard
An inclusive performance group for individuals with special needs, offering opportunities to learn flag and prop routines and perform at local and regional events.
The KennedyStrong Foundation
An organization focused on empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through advocacy, programming, and community-building.
Elder Orphan Care
A nonprofit serving older adults who wish to remain in their homes by providing companionship, home safety support, and assistance with essential needs.
We are excited to share that, following member voting, this quarter’s recipient is Aurora Special Needs Winter Guard. We look forward to seeing the impact of your collective generosity in the months ahead.
Thank you again for being part of this generous and engaged community.
Our next meeting will be Thursday, July 23, at 7 pm, at Central United Methodist Church, where we will also celebrate five years of supporting Cabarrus County nonprofits. We hope you will join us for this special milestone.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our Q1 meeting!
We were grateful to be hosted by last quarter’s recipient, The Junior Charity League of Concord. Their Executive Support Director, Chrissy Hayes, shared how our $5,310 donation supported The Clothing Room—a program that provides new clothing and shoes to economically disadvantaged students in Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City Schools. It was wonderful to see the direct impact of our giving.
This quarter’s nominee presentations were truly outstanding and inspiring. We heard from El Puente Hispano, The Open Door House, and Hellfighters of Concord Mission at the Cross. While the vote was very close, El Puente Hispano was selected as this quarter’s recipient. Their mission is to connect and integrate the Hispanic community in Cabarrus County by providing information, education, resources, and guidance to foster self-sufficiency and productivity. Our current donation total is $4,410.
Nominations are now open for our next giving cycle! Please mark your calendars for our next meeting on Thursday, April 23, at 7:00 pm. and invite a friend or neighbor to attend. Location details will be shared soon.
Thank you for your continued support and generosity. Together, we truly are making a difference in Cabarrus County.
With gratitude,
Elaine, Jack, & Beau
